Short answer: On October 28, 2026 Schwab made three AI moves for its RIAs: Claude for Financial Advisors now connects to Schwab Advisor Center (with a reported $4,800 credit for firms that sign up for Claude Enterprise by November 30), Wealth.com's Ester tax and estate tool is free inside Schwab Advisor Center until February 2027, and Schwab invested in Nevis, an AI operating system focused first on onboarding. If you custody at Schwab, the Ester trial costs nothing to test today; the Claude credit is worth a decision before November 30 if your compliance team is ready.

Key takeaways

  • Firms signing up for Claude Enterprise by November 30 get a $4,800 credit, equal to a 12-month, 20-seat minimum, Schwab's AI lead told reporters; usage at API rates is billed on top.
  • Ester's introductory experience runs at no cost until February 2027; a paid version that connects to authorized Schwab data starts in the first quarter of 2027.
  • Nevis raised a $70 million Series B led by EQT Ventures with Schwab as a strategic investor, bringing its total funding to $110 million; client onboarding is the first joint focus.

What Schwab announced, in plain English

Schwab Advisor Services, which says it supports more than 17,000 independent RIAs, used its IMPACT conference in Boston on October 28, 2026 to announce new AI options inside Schwab Advisor Center and through the outside tools that connect to it. There were three pieces:

  1. Claude for Financial Advisors is now available through Schwab Advisor Center. Anthropic's advisor suite of connectors and workflow skills can read Schwab account, position and history data through an authenticated connection.
  2. Ester, an AI tax and estate planning experience built by Wealth.com for Schwab RIA clients, can be opened from Schwab Advisor Center.
  3. Nevis, an AI operating system for wealth firms, entered a strategic partnership with Schwab and received an investment from it.

Schwab credits nearly 15 years of API and integration work, and its AI lead said the Anthropic deal is not exclusive. This is an ecosystem play: Schwab wants the AI tools you choose to work with its data.

Claude inside Schwab Advisor Center, and the $4,800 credit

Anthropic released Claude for Financial Advisors in September 2026, and Schwab said at the time it would be the first RIA custodian included. Since October 28 the Schwab connection is live. For a full list of which CRMs, portfolio and planning systems also connect, see our explainer on Claude for Financial Advisors connectors.

WealthManagement.com reported that RIAs can use an Enterprise license, which has a 20-seat minimum, or a smaller Team option that requires firms to show they meet certain security measures. Alison Dooher, Schwab's head of AI for Advisor Services, said both companies recommend Enterprise because of its added compliance and security features, and that advisors who sign up by November 30 receive a $4,800 credit, which she described as equal to a 12-month, 20-seat minimum.

Anthropic's own pricing page lists Enterprise at $20 per seat per month, billed annually, with a 20-seat minimum, and says usage is charged on top at API rates that scale with the model and task. Team standard seats are $20 a month billed annually for teams of 2 to 150 (Claude pricing). So for a five-advisor RIA, the credit roughly offsets the seat commitment for a year, but usage is a separate line item. Ask Schwab or Anthropic in writing how the credit is applied and what usage you should budget.

Claude was not the only integration news. WealthManagement.com reported that Anthropic announced financial integrations the day before with firms including Conquest, FINNY, Invesco, MSCI and Jump, so the Claude workspace may soon reach your notetaker and planning tools as well as your custodian.

Ester: free tax and estate AI until February 2027

Ester is Wealth.com's AI for estate and tax documents, packaged here for Schwab RIAs (Schwab has been a minority investor in Wealth.com since April 2025). From Schwab Advisor Center, advisors can ask general tax and estate questions, upload trusts, wills and tax returns and ask questions about them, run guided workflows that produce a structured review of risks and opportunities, and create estate flowcharts and beneficiary maps.

Two details matter for compliance. Schwab says Ester uses rules-based engines for core tax and estate calculations, pulls legal and tax facts from verified sources, refuses questions outside tax and estate planning, and that advisors review every output before acting on it. The introductory experience runs at no cost until February 2027; the paid offering starts in the first quarter of 2027 and lets advisors connect Ester to authorized Schwab data and choose which clients it can see.

It is the lowest-risk IMPACT announcement to try: test it on an anonymized trust first, then compare the full Wealth.com platform in Wealth.com vs Vanilla and Luminary vs Wealth.com. Our estate plan review workflow shows where a tool like Ester fits.

Nevis: why Schwab is backing an AI operating system

Nevis is the least familiar name of the three. It describes itself as the AI operating system for wealth management, bringing CRM, meeting intelligence, financial planning and custodial workflows into one platform, with AI agents that complete operational work end to end. Earlier the same week it announced a $70 million Series B led by EQT Ventures, with participation from Charles Schwab, Sequoia Capital, ICONIQ, QuantumLight and Ribbit Capital, bringing total funding to $110 million two years after its founding.

Nevis says its customers represent more than $700 billion in assets, up from $50 billion a year earlier, and names Focus Financial Partners, IEQ Capital and United Capital. Those are vendor figures, and its named customers are large firms. Schwab says the partnership will start with client onboarding, because that work runs across document collection, account opening and transfers in several systems.

Nevis competes with meeting-first tools such as Jump and with all-in-one platforms such as Advisor360°; see Nevis vs Jump and Advisor360° vs Nevis.

What to do this month, and what to check with compliance

Regulators haven't written AI-specific rules for this. FINRA's 2026 oversight report repeats that its rules are technology-neutral and that using generative AI can implicate supervision, communications, recordkeeping and fair-dealing rules. It suggests monitoring prompts and outputs, which may include storing prompt and output logs, tracking which model version was used and when, and human review of outputs. For RIAs, SEC Rule 204-2 requires keeping written communications relating to advice for at least five years. Before you connect custodial data to any assistant:

  1. Pick the plan before the deadline, not after. If you want the credit, decide on Enterprise versus Team before November 30 and get the credit terms in writing.
  2. Update your AI policy. Add Claude and Ester to your approved-tools register with who may use them and with which client data. Our AI policy template has the clauses.
  3. Decide what gets archived. Meeting prep, draft emails and estate summaries that inform advice may be records. See record-keeping for AI chats and notetakers.
  4. Run vendor due diligence. Ask each vendor about training on your data, retention, sub-processors and SOC 2 scope, as amended Regulation S-P requires you to oversee service providers (Reg S-P and AI vendors).
  5. Pilot with a small group. Start with two or three advisors on non-sensitive tasks and measure time saved with the AI ROI calculator.

Every assistant above is only as good as the data it reads, so if meeting notes don't reach your CRM cleanly yet, start with our AI notetaker CRM handoff checklist.

FAQ

Is Claude for Financial Advisors free for Schwab RIAs?

No. Firms need a paid Claude plan. WealthManagement.com reported that Schwab RIAs signing up for Claude Enterprise by November 30, 2026 get a $4,800 credit, equal to a 12-month, 20-seat minimum. Anthropic lists Enterprise at $20 per seat per month billed annually with a 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates.

What is Ester in Schwab Advisor Center?

Ester is Wealth.com's AI tax and estate planning experience. Advisors can upload trusts, wills and tax returns, ask questions, run guided reviews and create estate flowcharts and beneficiary maps. The introductory version is free until February 2027; a paid version that connects to authorized Schwab data starts in the first quarter of 2027.

What is Nevis and why did Schwab invest?

Nevis is an AI operating system for wealth firms that combines CRM, meeting intelligence and back-office workflows, with agents for onboarding and account opening. Schwab joined its $70 million Series B as a strategic investor; the two will start with client onboarding.

Do I need compliance approval before connecting Claude to Schwab data?

You should get it. FINRA says its rules apply to generative AI like any other technology, and SEC Rule 204-2 requires RIAs to keep advice-related written communications for at least five years. Add the tool to your AI policy and decide what is archived first.
